SZA has officially revealed the release date for the deluxe edition of her album 'SOS,' titled 'Lana.'

A release date for SZA's highly anticipated deluxe album, titled Lana, has finally been revealed after some anticipation.
The album is now set to be released on December 20, as confirmed by SZA through an Instagram post featuring a teaser for the track "Dreams," which stars Ben Stiller. The visual, taken from the second season of Severance, showcases the Emmy-winning actor driving and expressing a range of emotions while singing along to SZA's music.

The announcement of Lana dates back to February of the previous year, with the title being disclosed in September 2023. SZA has previously mentioned that the deluxe edition will resemble a completely different album, containing approximately seven to ten additional tracks. This release will precede her co-headlining tour with Kendrick Lamar, which is set to commence in April 2025.

The teaser can be viewed below. SZA's Lana will be available on December 20.

She initially announced the title of the album "Lana" during a concert at the Brooklyn Navy Yard in New York in September 2023. She described the deluxe version of "SOS" as akin to an entirely new album, stating, "It’s seven to 10 songs, and it’ll be out this fall." In an interview with British Vogue last month, she emphasized that "Lana" and the deluxe edition of "SOS" are fundamentally distinct works. She remarked, "I believe I am creating music from a more beautiful and hopeful perspective, rather than from a place of angst." She further explained, "I do not define myself by my past struggles. They are merely experiences I have endured. While I have faced cruelty, I must eventually let it go. Gradually, my music is evolving as I become lighter." Earlier this month, she confirmed that "Lana" is indeed the title of the deluxe album and hinted at the tracklist.

This deluxe edition arrives over two years after SZA released "SOS." The original 23-track album featured five singles that reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, including the chart-topping "Kill Bill," along with "Snooze," "I Hate U," "Good Days," and "Nobody Gets You." It achieved a remarkable 10 nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, marking the longest reign for any R&B/hip-hop album by a female artist since Mariah Carey’s self-titled debut, which held the top position for 11 weeks in 1991. Rather than being confined to the closing weeks of 2022, "SOS" emerged as one of the most significant releases of both this year and the last. The album received nominations for Album of the Year and Best Progressive R&B Album at the 2024 Grammy Awards, where SZA led with a total of nine nominations.
